One Cool Website
Explore the coolest thing humans have ever builtā¦the internet!
Check out The Wayback Machine. This thing is addicting. You can type in any website domain and see what it looked like in the past. Check out Apple & Amazon - itās wild to see how much user interfaces have changed over time. This site reminds me of 3 ideas:
Rome wasnāt built in a day. Donāt expect you to be either. Be patient with results but impatient with action.
If you improve a lot, what you did or built in the past probably looks like crap. Donāt dwell on it.
Donāt be a perfectionist - nothing ever looks perfect the first time. But the more times you iterate on it, the better it will turn out.
One Thing Iām Working On
Practice makes progress.
My ambition is a double edged sword. On the good side, I am proud of the things Iāve built and accomplished. On the bad side, I have lots of responsibilities that pressure into my life.
At times, I feel overwhelmed. I feel like life is moving at superspeed and I might not be able to hang on. In those moments, I drop what I am doing. I put all technology and stimulants away. I grab a notebook and a pen. And I go outside.
Walk, bike, run it doesnāt matter. I just get moving and let my brain run on its hamster wheel. I usually write down what comes to mind.
This habit almost always improves my mental headspace. But, there I have noticed an ideal time range. If I go too short, my brain doesnāt have time to process all of those thoughts. And if I go too long, I get distracted and forget what I was working on.
Iāve found the Goldilocks range to be around 20 minutes.
Although I love the habit, Iām not super disciplined with doing it. If I string together a few days or weeks where I donāt do it, I definitely feel more anxious and overwhelmed. Itās a work in progress but it has made my daily life so much better.
Next time you feel super stressed out, give it a try! Let me know if you like it.
One Prediction For The Future
Life is changing fast.
The 1900s had the Roaring 20s. I believe the 2000s will have the Nomadic 20s. With remote work and affordable travel infrastructure like Airbnb, professional pursuits & exploration have never been more aligned.
I plan to take advantage of it and I think a lot of my peers will too. Check out Nomad List to start exploring where you might live a year from now!
1 Great Book
There is no better bargain than a great book.
Atomic Habits explains how small every day habits add up into greatness.
It is by far the most life-applicable book Iāve ever read. And it has completely shaped the way that I think and approach personal growth.
After reading it and actually seeing my atomic habits compound into real success, even my most ambitious goals feel very plausible.

True. Points to the dichotomy in life: goal and principles along with what Atomic Habits and other self help books deliver - efficiency in reaching them.
True! Yes those steps do not preclude empathy and kindness. But, is Atomic Habits the right prescription for a Gestapo recruit? How will Atomic Habits move someone from hatred for someone to having empathy and comforting the person they hate who now has cancer? THE CRITICAL STEP IS MAKING THE DECISION TO COMFORT. Iād like your exploration of the idea on how Atomic Habits does that. My gut says it doesnāt.
