Streamline learning, stay happy, & say goodbye to legacy media
Welcome to the 7 new smart, curious people who have joined us since Sunday. We are now 389 people strong!!
This is the Bagel Bites version of Bread Crumbs. We cut lifeās obstacles into tiny bit sized triangles (just like your Mom did for your middle school sandwiches).
Todayās estimated read time: 3 minutes & 25 seconds.

One Cool Website
Explore the coolest thing humans have ever builtā¦the internet!
Thereās a lot of skills I want to learn. I want to play the guitar, code software applications, & speak fluent Spanish. I also want to explore unfamiliar topics like art & medicine. But, I donāt really know where to start. YouTube videos? In-person teachers? Online classes? It can take a while to find the right path.
Enter Learn Anything.
Itās the platform for knowledge discovery that helps you understand any topic through theĀ most efficient path. I donāt know how they made this thing but itās fascinating. Even if you donāt have a specific topic in mind, itās fun to explore.
One Thing Iām Working On
Practice makes progress.
Since January, I fell in love with journaling & reflecting every morning. It alleviates stress, helps me enjoy the climb, & will let me look back in 20 years and literally see what actions led to the person I became. Itās pretty awesome.
But with engineering classes & Illini Blockchain picking back up, I often forget (or feel I donāt have time) to do it. Sometimes I go more than a week without writing down a single word! When that happens, I kick myself for not being disciplined. I stress out about the thing that was supposed to relieve my stress!
But, itās not a lack of discipline that is causing stress. Itās a difference between my reality and expectations.
Happiness = Reality - Expectations
My responsibilities (& reality) have have changed. Unless I want to keep stressing out, Iāve got to adjust my expectations to meet my reality. I canāt expect myself to spend 30 minutes journaling every morning. Iām working on finding the right expectations. For now, I plan to journal every 3 days. I put it in my calendar to make sure it gets done. Weāll see what happens & Iāll adjust from there.
I think this adjustment applies to other things like relationships & careers. If youāre reality doesnāt meet your expectations, youāll feel less happy. The key is to find systems that either change your reality or recalibrate your expectations so that you can maintain a stable level of happiness.
One Prediction For The Future
Life is changing fast.
I think legacy media will be dead in 10 years. It polarizes people, shares biased opinions & calls them the truth, and paints the world as a complete hellscape. In short, it sucks.
But, people still want to learn and be informed. What will replace it? For quality content, I think people will turn to podcasts, newsletters, & YouTube videos. Just look at the numbers, itās already happening:
In 10 years, I think it will be gone for good. And with its fall will come the rise of individual content creators. I donāt think there is a better time to write or build a personal audience.
